Gennaro Gattuso, famous Calabrian football champion, has decided to invest in a different business from the usual fashion shops and trendy nightspots. Gattuso loves the sea, food and Calabria and has decided to get into something that includes all three passions… so, Gattuso has gone into the fishing industry. The footballer for Milan constructed a purification plant for shellfish (clams and cockles) and did it in his native land of Calabria, in Schiavonea, a hamlet of Corigliano Calabro, province of Cosenza. Everything was done in an old unused shed, where his father and uncles had worked as carpenters, with the contribution of the Region; it was fitted with tanks for farming, cleaning and processing the fish.
The business seems to be the brainchild of Gattuso’s father, and the champion gave his full support, also because he knows that it will be of some small help in fighting local unemployment and, in his words, he’ll also feel a lot safer when he eats his clams!
